If you are a comic fan, especially a die-hard one, you probably have an idea of what a real-life actor should look and act like to play your favorite characters. With the dramatic, often exaggerated illustrations of popular characters in the graphic novels, it can be jarring to see them on screen if the actors don't quite fit the comic canon. For many directors and producers of comic blockbusters, they try to select either unknowns for the roles (so as not to prejudice fans who may be familiar with the actors' other work) or actors who are extremely versatile and are talented character actors.
