Once a child with social anxiety, Jennifer Lawrence has risen rapidly in the Hollywood ranks to become the highest-paid actress in the world today. At just 22, she won the Best Actress award at the 84th Academy Awards for Silver Linings Playbook, making her the second youngest actress to walk away with that award. At 26 today, Lawrence is at the top of the world, with a newly minted boyfriend (director Darren Aronofsky) and highly anticipated movie, Mother!, lined up for 2017. To celebrate her birthday, let’s look at 9 things about Jennifer Lawrence you might not know.
Dinner with the Parents Review: It's a family comedy series following the Langers, who often turn their family dinners into a disruptively chaotic affair.
Baby Reindeer Review: Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning present a strange relationship of a stalker and her victim.
Amar Singh Chamkila Review: This is a surprisingly memorable watch that is equal parts sweet and raunchy in the best of ways.
I was initially very excited for Mother!, and it's still on my radar, but the fact that they moved the release date up to one of the worst box office months when there wasn't a trailer out is a bit concerning. I mean, they didn't really start marketing and release a trailer until 5 and a half weeks before the film has its wide release.
In the past there's been movies that don't show anything off until just before their festival showing, or until just before it opens with a limited run, but I can't think of another film that didn't release a trailer until only a little over a month before the wide release.
If nothing else, I don't think the studio is banking on this being a money maker (which makes sense), or being a major awards contender. Still cautiously optimistic.
What a pretentious cunt she is.
