Later, on Twitter, he clarified that the show would make sense “in a general sense of the word… very general.” Director David Lynch’s surreal and creatively obtuse approach to film and television helped to redefine a cinematic sensibility to the point where we now use the adjective “Lynchian” to describe anything remotely weird in the medium.

*Nothing* David Lynch makes, makes any sense. Which doesn't always make for the most enjoyable experience. His work is pretty much the epitome of "you either love it, or hate it". There's not much middle ground with Lynch.
