The Daily | ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Review

The Daily of the University of Washington

“John Wick: Chapter 2” does what every good sequel strives to accomplish: maintain and improve what worked about the previous installment while still progressing the narrative. The first “John Wick” opted for more minimalistic storytelling, relying primarily on the physicality of its actors in building its status quo. Not needing to build a world from scratch, that minimalism is carried over stronger than before in “Chapter 2.” Although there can be a lot for the audience to process at one time, it’s effective in keeping everyone engaged and providing enough context for viewers to understand what’s going on.
