The art of persuasion is everything when you’re trying to sell viewers on a new series. Series debuts have to hook you on the promise of more to come, and pace themselves accordingly, all while trying to find their place in a genre. Bryan Cranston and David Shore’s “Sneaky Pete” walks the walk and talks the talk of a great crime drama, but its slow-going characterization and miscast lead role leaves it short of sealing the deal.
