The Week's News - 11/04/2016

This week's edition of TVEnthusiast's The Week's News has more new shows, more new casting stories, and news about The Defenders. New shows in development include Landlords, The Sackett Sisters, Melting Potts, Marlowe, Straight Outta Heaven, Dietland, American Gigolo, Fancy Boy, Whan Bam, Thank You Ma’am, My Brother, My Brother and Me, and Shrink.

Netflix has renewed Longmire for a sixth and final season, and it looks like it might be the end for the El Rey series From Dusk til Dawn, which had to let go of its cast, after failing to decide the fate of the series in time.

Actors Wyatt Russell (Black Mirror), Courtney love (The People Versus Larry Flint), Lexa Doig (Continuum), Haley Joel Osment (Tusk), Halston Sage (Crisis), Penny Johnson Jerald (Castle), Joey Bragg (Liv and Maddie), Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad), Nik Dodani (Kevin From Work), Holliday Grainger (The Borgias), Chris Abbott (Girls), Abby Miller (Justified), Dohn Norwood (Hell on Wheels), and Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser) have secured new roles on various TV shows. While Writers David Goyer (Da Vinci's Demons) and Mark Verheiden (Constantine) also obtained work.

Also in the news, a ton of characters from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are returning for Marvel's The Defenders, Sandman's Screenwriter has left the movie citing that it could only work as a TV series, and Hulu begins to flesh out their new live streaming video platform.

This Week's Question: Marvel's Netflix series have often been criticized for running too long, at 13 episodes each. But their team-up series, The Defenders, is only 8 episodes, despite having much more to cover. How many episodes do you think The Defenders should have? and how about the other Marvel/Netflix series?

The Week's News is TVEnthusiast's weekly roundup of the news that affects the shows you love.
