Hands of Stone Review - KUTV

KUTV: Of course “Rocky” is a work of fiction and “Hands of Stone” is based on the life of Roberto Duran, a boxer from Panama who, at least according to this film, became the symbolic face to the resistance to the U.S. Military presence in his country. This gives “Hands of Stone” a political spin that even “Rocky IV” and its Cold War setting can’t match. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do much with this political atmosphere. Certainly Duran dislikes America, but that has more to do with his American father leaving his mother before he was born than it does the U.S. Military asserting that the Panama Canal belongs to America.

The story is too old to be commented.
