'Ghostbusters' Heading for $70M-Plus Loss, Sequel Unlikely

THR

Confronted by tepid box office for the reboot, the studio will instead focus on animated spinoffs.

Immediately upon the opening of Ghostbusters in mid-July, top Sony executives boldly declared a sequel to Paul Feig's all-female reboot of Ivan Reitman's 1984 classic was a given. "While nothing has been officially announced yet, there's no doubt in my mind it will happen," said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at Sony.

Amy Pascal was running Sony Pictures like here personal property without any of the responsibility, this was one of here last ego projects before getting fired a while ago.

That means it still flops. The propaganda behind this rubbish is appauling.

Tell me about it

A film which hates men basically

"GURLLLL POWA....YAAAAY"

UltraNova405d ago

Nes flash: hating and degrading men is now the new social movement...those who resist and voice their dissagreement will be branded racists. The irony...

OT: I havent seen this remake but if I take it I have seen all 'good' one liners in the trailers; and from what I saw this flick is abysmaly bad and not funny in.any sense of the meaning.

I would say Holywood has learned their lesson but we all know that is not the case.

maybe now we can get the movie fans asked for.

isa_scout405d ago

I hope you're right. They'll most likely say that Ghostbusters just doesn't have the same appeal it had decades ago, when in reality it does have hungry fans still waiting for a real Ghostbusters film. I was holding out hope until the first trailer then the Haunted Mansion vibe set in and I knew it would suck.

the first animated Ghostbusters series is the franchise at it's finest, it's how I became a fan, would be awesome if the animated movie was based on that

Next up will be oceans 11 all female movie.

annoyedgamer406d ago

Depends, this film did not make back its earnings which means studios will not be lining up to dole out cash for another feminazi attempt.

They cast Rihanna...that says everything

Not even a "Ocean" character within the film so I don't see how it can be called "Oceans" 8.

NotEvenMyFinalForm405d ago

I was surprised with that cast too since she just can't act. She's ruined every scene she's ever been into. Although I do have a soft spot for Sandra Bullock and Helena Bonham, so I'll pay to patch the movie day one.
