Preacher’s season finale juggled a lot of different storylines, including a pivotal flashback, Cassidy’s time in jail and, of course, “God” visiting Annville, all in a skillful manner, while setting the stage for a second season much more in line with the comic book’s MO. The complete destruction of Annville and questions about which characters could be back do make it unclear if the previous nine episodes truly needed to be that many episodes, but in the meantime, the stage is set for a bigger, faster pace series next year.
