It’s been nine years since he graced his own franchise, and 12 since he starred in the best action film of the current millennium, 2004’s The Bourne Supremacy. When Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon made that film, they tapped into a climate of jittery political uncertainty and translated it, somehow, into bristlingly urgent abstract art.
