Was This The Worst Season of Game of Thrones?

Geekly NG: We’ve known that winter was coming since the very first episode of Game of Thrones, but few fans expected it to be in terms of writing quality. With the books now mostly behind on all of the storylines, the show has had little to no original text from creator George R.R. Martin to work from, and it shows.

It definitely was one of the slowest and most boring in the entire series but the last 2 episodes of the season were incredible. The Battle of the Bastards in particular was easily one of the best episodes I've ever seen in a TV show ever. The cinematography was absolutely outstanding, never seen anything like this on TV before.

It takes time to build things up to get to the point of the last two episodes.
But now with only 14 episodes left, there won't be much time left to build to the final battles.

Besides, Game of Thrones on a bad day still out shines most other programs.
I would same the main problem is, now that they have passed where the books are at, their have to establish their own story line, so maybe it's taken a bit of time to do that.

True, it is still better than most shows, but I feel like anything they've actually spent time building through the series, this season just skipped to an end. The emotional stakes just felt "meh."
This season didn't take its time anywhere, it was rushed with few emotional rewards.

I've seen many better episodes of TV than "Battle of the Bastards."
It was so predictable and emotionally empty. It was so interested in trying to feel cinematic that it lost the emotion. It was the "Batman vs. Superman" of Game of Thrones episodes. It looks pretty, but did I care?
I highly suggest you start watching The Americans if you want to see what great television writing and acting looks like.

Hmmm...I guess someone has to complain about something. Smh

Yes, like overrated episodes of TV that are just plain silly; "No One", "Battle of the Bastards."
