Is ‘Game of Thrones’ Too Big to Build a Satisfying Ending?

Variety

The problem with “Game Of Thrones,” from its inception at HBO, was that the story didn’t have an ending.

The same month that the series debuted, the impatient fan community around “A Song Of Ice And Fire” author George R.R. Martin — who had already been, for years, “GRRuMbling” to themselves that these books were taking an awful lot of time to get written, were the subject of a 2011 New Yorker piece. At that point, readers of the 1996 book “Game Of Thrones” had been waiting 15 years for the resolution of the grand tale.

I think anyone that understands game of thrones already knows this. It's an epic salad of so many characters and stories, that there's no way to give it one all conclusive ending.

What they can do is nicely string together all the story arcs and leave each one with a satisfying mini-conclusion. They showed this can be done with the latest finale of season 6! It was so well done, I can totally imagine an ending like that, but with more closure of course.

I have a good feeling it's going to end like the Wire, by closing the main stories and leaving it at a point where you know the world is still going to continue the way it is, just with new people. That's what GoT is about, it's not just a story, it's a universe, and we're just witnessing a part of it.

"I have a good feeling it's going to end like the Wire,"

The best conclusion to one of the best shows ever on TV. I would be happy if GoT could achieve something similar.
