On occasion, a person does something superficially nice. Perhaps it’s giving some money to a beggar on the street. It might be a smile for someone looking sad across the room, or it might simply be a few kind thoughts for the marginalized, magnanimously ministered. For most, living their utterly unimportant and busy lives, that is all that will be spared. “Major!”, to its credit, makes it clear: That is not enough.
