EB: Veronica Roth’s Divergent series continued its live action film run last week with the release of Allegiant, the third film in the franchise based on the third and final book. Like other young adult angst films based on books, Allegiant has been split into two parts, which may be why the first entry felt a bit flat and led to the franchise’s worst opening weekend in its history. I have not read the books, and have only watched the films, which I’ll admit aren’t great, but something about the world has sucked me in and made me a fan, but after watching Allegiant this past weekend I can see why it hasn’t done so well at the box office.
