The 5th Wave (2016) Review | FilmGamesEtc

FGE - The 5th Wave is the latest in the string of Young Adult fiction novel trilogies that have made their way to the silver screen. The 5th Wave is different from its predecessors (The Hunger Games series and The Divergent series) in that the story involves an alien invasion dystopic future, rather than a dystopic future that simply shows humanity at its worst. Similar to the films listed above, this story has a young female protagonist stuck in an impossible situation, while also dealing with the stereotypical love triangle. Personally, I enjoy stories revolving around a dystopian future; however The 5th Wave isn’t bringing anything new or vastly different to the table. It simply rehashes storylines, subplots and plot twists that we already know all too well.
