TRR: A film that aims to reinvent the iconic 1960s television series by blending modern swagger with vintage style, Guy Ritchie's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. stars Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer as Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, characters made famous by Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. Unlike the TV show, however, Solo and Kuryakin aren't agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement when we first meet them. Instead, they're top agents from the CIA and the KGB who find themselves reluctantly teaming up to infiltrate the headquarters of an international crime syndicate, where they must rescue a kidnapped scientist and recover his research. To do so, not only will they need the help of the scientist's daughter, Gaby (Alicia Vikander), but they'll also have to try not to kill each other along the way. A stylish and sophisticated visual romp, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. makes for quite an entertaining remake, especially when you consider the pairing of Cavill and Hammer, who even give the duo of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law a run for their money. If you missed the film in theaters, it's worth checking out on Blu-ray.
