Steven Spielberg Hints at a Fifth ‘Indiana Jones’

ScreenRush: SSteven Spielberg is a man with the powers of a god. As the visionary behind some of the most universally beloved film properties of the 20th century, he wields an unfathomable influence over the legions of movie geeks who hold his populist successes as holy gospel. All it takes from the director to move millions of hearts to flutter is words, simple words. No matter if they’re part of a totally offhand comment during an interview, hinting at a project with no actual traction in pre-production, with actors who have most certainly aged out of the capacity to perform feats of dazzling derring-do. All it takes is a mere utterance of the words “Indiana Jones 5” from Spielberg and we all feel like we’re twelve years old again.

This follows the story within a story rule.

Maybe they can just ignore the 4th film like it never happened and make this the last send of for Harrison Ford

RetrospectRealm3111d ago

Shia's obviously not gonna be in this one, so there's really no point in going out of their way to add lines of dialogue that confirms 4 didn't exist. If anything, Shia or Marion will just be mentioned within this film anyways.

-Foxtrot3111d ago

Whether he's in or not doesn't change the fact it still exists...

I think most fans whether this film is good or bad will keep thinking "But the 4th film still happened"

RetrospectRealm3111d ago

Uhhhhhhh, literally nobody is gonna be thinking that if the 5th one is good. Lol

Porcelain_Chicken3111d ago

Agreed! I wasn't thinking of X-men Origins while watching The Wolverine. Or X3 while watching First Class. I think it can definitley go forward while keeping 4. But I honestly wouldn't care if they dropped it altogether. I agree with Fox that this series deserves a good ending.

Not hopeful after the 4th, but its Spielberg, it could be great.

Stringerbell3110d ago

Unless this proposed fifth is meta and its all about another archaeologist going into a tomb and trying to uncover the mystery as to what made the original Indiana Jones films so great. Monkeys swinging on a vine, ughhh some wounds cut deep...

StarWarsFan3110d ago

I think the 4th was on the right track and good at its core. I don't think it needs to be ignored suddenly. I loved the Soviets as the baddies and the 50's UFO-esque theme. The intro was also bad-ass. Where it veered off was its over-reliance on CGI: the jeep chase looked like a cartoon and the monkeys swinging were just questionable. I think the filmmakers were trying to make Indy fit in the box-office of the 21st century but didn't realize even the newest generation loves the old movies and things like CGI didn't need to be expanded by a great multiple.
