The year is only half-way done, but naturally film buffs are already considering what might (and might not) be earning Oscar nominations early next year. It’s always fun to speculate on the awards race and observe it as it evolves over the months, even if it’s only so predictable to a point, and frequently loves to defy expectation.
Still, it’s hard not to look at a number of movies on wide release, unleashed upon festivals and hyped for release later in the year, and not already feel like some of the Oscars have pretty much already been given out.

Oscars 2023 might witness new rounds of celebrations, accolades, and the usual reminiscence of the Slapgate fiasco.
