IGN: On the heels of a decent pilot, HBO's Ballers shrank a bit with "Raise Up," which saw The Rock's Spencer chase down a more formalized, binding agreement between himself and Vernon (Donovan Carter). An agreement that would not only help stabilize Vernon's financial future but also aid Spenser, who's down to his last penny (well, not last penny, but close).
A noble challenge for Spencer, most definitely, but one that came with relatively little difficulty. In fact there were no real hard decisions made in "Raise Up" and so the show just sort of hovered in that somewhat uninteresting "not too funny/not too dramatic" limbo.
