Robert Downey Jr. to Produce, Possibly Star in Conman Movie Adaptation

Variety:
Robert Downey Jr.’s production company Team Downey is developing a movie based on the book “Chasing Phil: The World’s Greatest Con Man, Two Undercover FBI Agents, and Their Amazing Around the World Adventure.”

The project is being developed as a potential acting vehicle for Downey in the role of conman Phillip Kitzer Jr.

Warner Bros., which has a first-look deal with Team Downey, picked up the movie rights to David Howard’s nonfiction book, which centers on the FBI agents who infiltrated the world of Kitzer, a Minnesota swindler who masterminded dozens of multimillion-dollar schemes, such as selling worthless securities from bogus offshore enterprises during the 1970s.
