Jurassic World Review | HSR

Fourteen years after Jurassic Park 3 seemingly hammered the final nail into the franchise’s coffin, the hope going into Colin Trevorrow’s follow-up was that old wounds could be healed by time. Unfortunately, despite an aggressive marketing campaign doing its utmost to get audiences excited about dinosaurs again, Jurassic World tears open those old wounds and proceeds to pour on the salt.

That salt comes in the form of terrible characters, a ridiculous story, and – by far the worst offence – the undermining of what Steven Spielberg’s original taught us to be some of history’s most dangerous creatures. If The Lost World’s infamous velociraptor fly kicking scene left you feeling cold, Jurassic World’s treatment of those once terrifying predators will have you hoping the franchise is driven to extinction.
