411 Mania - "In the end, tonight decently wrapped up the Ogre storyline, while also establishing the finale. And while I am excited for the last episode, ‘The Anvil or the Hammer’ still had too many simultaneous plotlines: did we really need the Nygma arc? On top of this, the Ogre was effective while he lasted, but the third act began to suffer after his departure. However, the shot of the captain announcing the gang war perfectly sets up next week, making me excited to tune in for Gotham’s final episode. Either way, this has been a very bumpy season one."
