Is this what they are going to do now, get directors, writers, actors etc to say how it looks good or will be good with there being no good hype for the film.

Is there such a thing as bad hype? I always thought of hype as excited-ness. Not sure if you can be negatively excited for something lol.

On the topic at hand, I have zero faith in this until I see a trailer. And this is coming from someone who really liked Chronicle.

Well hype usually goes both ways in my opinion

One one hand you have the "OMFG THIS LOOKS AMAZING, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS", as you count the days to the films release

While the other is "This film looks ridiculous, I can't believe they have still went ahead with it, everything about this looks plain terrible"

It's like people are excited to see how bad it's going to be because they already have a clear picture in their heads thanks to it's limited marketing and how every scrap of info we've gotten has made it sound awful. It's like people are excited to see how bad it does.

I know I am because as a F4 fan I thought they couldn't do worse then the last films...but it sounds like they have. They are trying to change the source material to make it good but are forgetting the source material makes it what it is.
