[REC] 4: Apocalypse is the latest – and if horror movie marketing is to be believed, the last – entry in the popular Spanish horror franchise. With the previous installment offering a sort of parallel story to the first two films without series mainstay Angela (Manuela Velasco) nor one of the originating directors, Jaume Balaguero, their return in Apocalypse is welcome. Unfortunately, [REC] 4 is little more than a generic horror continuation, offering very little to the zombie/infected genre outside of a few tense moments and gory kills.

Whilst the final chapter doesn‘t quite recapture the fear the original film instilled in us all back in 2007, Balagueró has certainly achieved his prime intention, to send the REC saga off with an almighty, gruesome bang

An official trailer for the fourth chapter in the popular Spanish horror series, REC 4: Apocalypse, has hit the web and you can now watch it here at Shock. This is very similar to the promo I saw at the American Film Market last fall. And, as you can see, Angela is back and the action of the series is being drastically relocated.
