Tim Burton is one of the greatest directors. But I think to be really recognized on an awards level, he needs to get back to doing smaller pictures like Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood and Big Fish, which is why I'm glad to see that his latest picture is Big Eyes.
I feel like Burton is unfairly maligned a lot of the time. I once met him at a Halloween party in Valencia(his hometown, where a lot of his movies were shot - the neighborhood in Scissorhands for example). Guy came in with a paper mache jack skellington mask on. Nobody knew it was him until after the party. Of course I made a drunken ass out of myself congratulating him on his costume. I poked it.
