Kinda dumb, no offense. We really aren't losing much from not letting one mediocre looking movie run at theaters and risk a couple of hundred people getting hurt. I mean is "we ran a Seth Rogen movie and called your bluff, haha" really something to gloat about to terrorists?? Is that really a "win" worth the risk? Think man!!!

TXIDarkAvenger3416d ago (Edited 3416d ago )

Meh, I don't care for the movie but this pretty much shows its legit to hack and make threats as a strategy to achieve a political goal. I'm not blaming Sony though, this would be a risky move to show it in theaters.

I'm hoping it gets released digitally or leaked since the movie is completed.

gigoran3415d ago

At the cinema? Little heads up... movie is canned for good. Cinema. Dvd. Blu Ray. Streaming. It is gone! Sony is saying they now have absolutely no plan to release it at all.

So yeah, terrorists win.

pompous3415d ago

Oh but we are. What this says is that outside influences now have control over what we can and can't do, see, or whatever. This is bad and this is all from a confirmed not a credible threat. I'm pissed that I now live in a cou.try full of Fucking babies that are scared of everything. We are going to give up our rights just for a false sense of security, for example airports and tsa- been proven we are no safer now than before that craps started. This is wrong, period.

Deadpoolio3415d ago

Ummm hate to brake it to you skippy but it isn't gone for good...They have already said if it doesn't get released to theaters it's getting a PPV/VOD release and WILL BE released on Blu ray....Jesus, why do people feel the need to speak without actually finding out information first

@ everyone above who replied... You guys all missed my point ENTIRELY but eh whatever floats your boats. I'll join you guys. Omg turrurists, murrica!! And all that.

My point wasn't about the movie guys. It was about a threat and what it could bring. Whether bullsh*t from the source or not. Read Defectiv3_Detecitiv3's post a few posts down. For further elaboration.

@pompous
Dude wtf are you talking about? One mediocre looking movie gets taken down and suddenly we lost all control of our country? We've fallen from grace and into complete control of the rest of the world because of one movie no one would remember a year from now is now gone for good? Listen to yourselves!! Are you telling me if an elementary school was threatened we shouldn't give in to demands of giving some guy a candy bar because we LOOK weak to you & Deadpoolio over here? Makes sense, f**k all them little kids that's OUR candy bar! Maybe just maybe YOU need all the false sense of security you can get my friend. Because you're paranoid.

I can't believe Sony gave in to a bunch of hacking trolls.

04roacht3416d ago

There has been a legitimate terrorist threat. If they go ahead nothing could happen but this way they make sure that nothing happens.

dota2champion3416d ago (Edited 3416d ago )

They're just fear mongering threats by a bunch of trolls with nothing better to do

spicelicka3415d ago (Edited 3415d ago )

Well firstly, if they went forward with it and an attack happened, it would be an absolute disaster for everyone. It's easy to say now, but the threats were serious enough to take the precaution considering the rise in terrorist attacks recently.

Secondly, they actually weren't giving in, Sony said they weren't going to let the threats get to them. But most of the major theaters refused to play the movies so they didn't have much of a choice. It would be too much of a risk to play in small theatres on top of the possibility of an attack.

Defectiv3_Detectiv33416d ago

It's not necessarily the hackers they are afraid, but those rogue wackos that use opportunities like this to make a statement for themselves.

Crazay3416d ago

There are seemingly lots of those kooks around these days.

I work in the capital of Canada and was a block away from the dude who shot the soldier and stormed parliament with a shotgun back in October.

Soldierone3415d ago

Exactly. The threats were nothing, that's why Sony didn't care. They got hacked, damage was done.

Then I think it triggered "What if some moron carries it out?" and that's when Sony decided losing a few million was smarter than having that on their record, on top of all the hacked crap.

joeorc3415d ago

This was no lil hacking group..this was a North Korea Govt. Backed Hack! It was found out to be tied to their Govt. Of North Korea, so this was very prudent of Sony to do.

can you blame them?

http://www.cnet.com/news/fb...

that would go past 90% of network defenses in the private sector, on top of it there was worker's at Sony that helped the hackers get in side of sony networks to put the malware at a physical location!

coolbeans3415d ago

What a strange jump from yesterday's report of Sony editing the fatal blow of Jong-un to now cancelling the theatrical release altogether. Shame but not a surprise at this point.
