Paul Feig Has a Wonderfully Specific Vision for His All-Female Ghostbusters

Vulture

Some leaked Sony emails are racist, some leaked Sony emails are hilarious, and some leaked Sony emails contain delightful plans for the upcoming all-female Ghostbusters reboot. This one from Paul Feig is the third kind. In an email to Sony chief Amy Pascal, Feig spitballs a bunch of ideas for the film, including the team's origin story, the movie's villain, and what role Cecily Strong might play. (Here's where we put the spoiler warning just in case any of these things end up in the actual movie.)

An all female Ghostbusters which is basically going to be a supernatural Bridesmaids is not a wonderful vision in the first place.

Crazay3411d ago

Agreed. BRUTAL choice of words for that title.

I seriously hope it tries to stand on it's own and not try to be like a "female version" of something else. That's why I hated Bridesmaids, it was just a female Hangover.....

Comes down to the casting in my opinion now

If Melissa Mccarthy and Kristen Wiig are in it then yeah...it's going that way

Just make an all female movie about paranormal investigators, why does Ghostbusters have to be dragged into this gang rape of a terrible idea. In other words, Feig, NO ONE WANTS THIS PIECE OF CRAP MADE. IT IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.

It's like why Annie was remade with a black lead...because they have something "different" to market the film as

Same franchise/film but with a "twist" which they hope will make it look different enough for people to go and see it

You shouldn't need to turn gender and race into a gimmick for your films, it should stand on it's own.

frelyler3411d ago

You said it much better than me and that was exactly my point!

Soldierone3411d ago

I swear, it's got to be the writers. Either the good ones are all tied up with comic book adaptations, or Hollywood is simply afraid of getting young ones.

It won't be long before we have another year of plain terrible movies (Besides comic book ones) like last year....

StarWarsFan3411d ago

This is going to be stupid. Sony has lost its touch with Spider-Man and now they want to ruin the Ghostbusters franchise.
