First Trailer to RZA’s Man With the Iron Fists Sequel

Filmdivider:

RZA has co-written the sequel to his film The Man With the Iron Fists but did not, this time, take the director’s chair. Instead, the job of steering this follow-up through production fell on Roel Reiné, a specialist in lower-budget and often direct to disc action pictures.

Not only has Reine got sequels to The Marine, 12 Rounds and Behind Enemy Lines on his resume, there are also a pair of Death Race prequels and The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, which is actually a sequel to a prequel to a prequel to a sequel to a remake.

Back in the summer, when production had just wrapped, RZA called this second Iron Fist film Sting of the Scorpion in numerous interviews. That subtitle is nowhere to be seen in this trailer, but it might inform how you read these scenes.

The Man with the Iron Fists Review | Moar Powah

"Once upon a time, kung fu movies were huge in the United States, despite poor dubbing, and less than quality camera work. An entire generation was exposed not only to the unique styles of Asian cinema, but also to a culture that before was portrayed in a less than sensitive way. So when this generation grew up, they of course wanted to pay homage to the movies that inspired them. Two such men are the acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino, and Hip-hop megastar/actor RZA. Tarantino’s Kill Bill is regarded as one of the great modern-era martial arts epics, how does the RZA’s debut film hold up?" - Moar Powah

The LRA Show Ep. 76 - Wreck-It Ralph / Argo / The Man with the Iron Fists

LRA writes: What an episode we have for you this week. We don't have, we don't have two, but a total of three new movies that we cover this week! That's not even including our discussion on Disney's acquistion of Lucasfilm or James talking about "End of Watch" for the first time. We start out with director/star Ben Affleck's new thriller "Argo" which then leads into "The Man with the Iron Fists" and us trying to determine if it's writer/director/star should be referred to as 'The' RZA or just RZA. Finally we end up with Disney's new animated film "Wreck-It Ralph" where we all have completely varying opinions on its successes and its failures. Featured music this week is from "The Man with the Iron Fists" and "Wreck-It Ralph" motion picture soundtracks.

The Man with the Iron Fists Review | FleshEatingZipper

FleshEatingZipper says: "Well, I think we all knew this was coming: RZA, co-founder of the legendary rap outfit, the Wu-Tang Clan, has produced, directed, co-written, starred in, and composed the soundtrack for a martial arts movie. You can’t say we weren’t warned. First he began acting in offbeat movies like Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai and Coffee and Cigarettes, then he united with Quentin Tarantino to compose the soundtrack for Kill Bill. Given the fact that he named his rap group after an old Kung Fu movie, it was only a matter of time before the man directed a martial arts flick himself. So how is The Man with the Iron Fists? Oh, it’s terrible. Not even so bad it’s good. Don’t be fooled by Quentin Tarantino’s name being plastered all over the movie, Tarantino had nothing to do with this one."
