You just have to love Donald Sutherland’s voice, it’s almost as unmistakable as the fumes from your morning coffee rising into your nostrils. Father to the equally successful and unmistakable Kiefer Sutherland, Donald is no stranger to the world of Hollywood and aside from having some of the most recognisable vocal cords in cinema today, the guy is a damn good actor too. With a career spanning over fifty years worth of film roles, Sutherland has utilised his talents for more varied types of roles than you can shake a stick at.

Some critics are already gunning for The Weinstein Company’s The Current War Some critics are already gunning for The Weinstein Company’s The Current War (11/24) which just had its World Premiere here last night and which I caught at this morning’s first Press and Industry screening.
Deadline:
acquired U.S. distribution rights to Forsaken, a Western that teams Kiefer Sutherland with his dad Donald Sutherland, with a Gala Toronto Film Festival premiere set for Wednesday. It’s their first screen pairing. Sutherland plays an 1872 gunslinger who retires and returns to his hometown in Wyoming to repair his relationship with his reverend father. The town is in turmoil as the railroad is coming through and thugs terrorize ranchers into selling. Despite his father’s wish he not return to violence, the gunman knows he’s the only hope.
Brian Cox, Michael Wincott, Greg Ellis and Aaron Poole also star in script by Brad Mirman.
Filming has already begun, with Jennifer Lawrence starring as heroine Katniss, who must fight in the televised battle-to-the-death known as the Hunger Games.
Sutherland joins recent additions Amber Chaney (a newcomer who'll play Avox Girl), Toby Jones (cast as Claudius Templesmith) and Lenny Kravitz (Cinna).
Freaking perfect. I love it. Truthfully I've never thought of who I'd want to play the characters, but as soon as they've announced the actor, I immediately know it's a good fit.
I know nothing about the books so I have no idea who would be good for what parts. Hell, I don't even know what the roles are.
I will have to admit, though, I am eager to see something about this. Given the synopsis and everything I've already heard about it, it should be one to watch out for. I'll be eager to see a trailer for it.
That sounds like something I need to do too. Think I'll try and find them today. Like I have all the time in the world on weekends. I may have all the time in the world during the week but not on weekends.....guess I better find them today.
Im hoping it turns out to be a good movie, since Donald is in it should be but he was in the New Italian Job and that wasnt the best thing since sliced bread either. Though thats only one movie so hope/pray.
I've only demoed part of the book. This guy seems like a good fit from what I've read into so far. But then again, he is one of my favorite actors, so I am a bit partial.
Think that picture embodies his career more than anything else.
