I like Christopher Nolan. Of all the British born but partly raised in America directors who are currently working in the sci-fi/fantasy genre he is definitely in the top two. Yes, his films may be like a house of cards that look great but only stand up to the slightest scrutiny, but for those couple of hours I’m in the cinema watching his films he has me all the way. Eschewing a second unit director, everything you see in his films he shot, which is impressive. He uses more practical effects than you probably imagine, too. I walk through Gotham Courthouse on the way to work every morning, which is never not exciting.

Lol At how this guy bashes film. Film is known to be the best quality you can get when shooting. And this guy complains about blemishes and scratches on the film prints sent to theaters? That literally barely ever happens. And like he even said, he didn't even notice it when he was told it was coming.
Not to mention, if you've truly seen an original print of a 70mm film, like I saw The Searchers at Grauman's years back, it looks absolutely BEAUTIFULLY. Film can really not be even rivaled.
P.S.: Nolan's track record already outweighs Michael Mann's.
P.S.S.: I do however agree Nolan needs to get with the picture at least a little. No phone or email? What the hell? It's not like he's some super old timer from the WW2 or something.
Film is classic! Film is textural and warm. Film is also in itself a storage medium, that if stored properly will last a century or more.
