Box Office: Brad Pitt's 'Fury' Earns $1.2 Million on Thursday Night

THR:Animated film 'Book of Life' earned $300K on Thursday night while romantic drama 'Best of Me' took in $525K

Fury, David Ayer's WWII tank drama, rolled its way to a strong $1.2 million from 2,489 locations on Thursday night.

Starring Brad Pitt opposite Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman and Michael Pena, the film is likely to top the weekend ahead of holdover Gone Girl, which took the No. 1 spot at the North American box office for the past two weekends.

Pre-release tracking suggests Fury will open in the $25 million range, a solid start for Sony, QED International and LStar Capital. The $68 million drama, also starring Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood, launches in 3,155 theaters. The story centers on a U.S. tank crew traveling through Germany at the end of WWII.
