Is An X-Men TV Series A Good Idea?

There has recently been a rumour that Fox is developing an X-Men TV series, which makes sense as the film franchise is doing very well. As Fox owns the rights to the comic book characters the studio will want to maximise their usage in order to generate a lot of money. It is no secret that films based on comic books do very well at the box office and the latest shows based on comic books seem to have a high numbers of viewers too. Of course but only if they get older actors. I don't want it to be plagued by younger looking X-Men for the sake of it.

If they do I hope it starts out with the original X-Men

Cyclops
Jean
Angel
Beast
Ice Man

Then for season 2 to add new characters they can use the Second Genesis story.

This is where the original X-Men go missing and Cyclops is the only one to escape, so Professor X goes and find a new team to go and rescue the old one. With this you can add

Sunfire
Banshee
Wolverine
Storm
Nightcrawler
Colossus
Thunderbird

Of course it's a good idea. X-men has a big universe with lots of characters that the film couldn't developed well, a TV adaption could do the X-Men more justice than the film.

Doing a big, epic X-Men film is only a small snapshot of their universe and is just bound to end up crowded. Even Days of Future Past shows the strain it can cause given Mystique juxtaposed against Xavier and Magneto.

They'd obviously preserve the integrity of the film universe and opt for lesser knowns like Gambit and a rebooted Iceman and Rogue, but if they snatched up Patrick Stewart for--

a follow-up to Days of Future Past's new timeline, then I'm onboard.
