CBM

Let's face it, Sony plans for The Amazing Spider-Man are not going well. Could that be why "plans" are being discussed to connect that character to the extremely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe? There are rumbling that's the case, so hit the jump for details...

Why would Marvel allow this when they don't own the rights

It's like after the dissapointing Amazing Spiderman sequel (for Sony) they want to ride on Marvels success since they aren't doing very well themselves

Why don't Sony just sell Spiderman to Marvel

Anyway I hope this doesn't happen, I just wouldn't want to see Andrew Garfield or anything from his Spiderman films in Marvels universe.

It's too late to add him now in my opinion.

No, it's not to late to add him. Spider-Man is part of the Second Avengers, along with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Wolverine, She-Hulk, and etc. Spider-Man will be perfect for the Avengers 3 movie since they are trying to phase out the main heroes (because contracts are expiring). Besides, his role wont be big since Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Black Panther will be the main heroes.

It's Marvel approaching Sony, not the other way around. They also approached Fox and Fox wants nothing to do with it.

Simply put this is a massive win/win for both sides. Marvel can get a TON of hype by putting Spider-Man in the end credits of Avengers 2. Sony in return gets to become part of the MCU, and there is no losing in that at all.

jukins3486d ago

regardless of what critics said finiancially spider man 2 did well and was a major reason sony actually posted profit for the financial quarter it came out in. Thats why they wont sell it. Basically free money no matter how good/bad the movies are.

I mean can you imagine Spiderman getting the tony stark spiderman suit that he had in the comics in an Avengers movie mmmm

alycakes3487d ago

I never thought of Spider-Man as Marvel in anyway. He's always been DC to me. I don't know how I would feel about this.

NCAzrael3486d ago

Well, considering the fact that Spider-Man is a MARVEL character and has nothing to do with DC (other than that time Marvel and DC got together to do the crossover stuff) I would say you should feel pretty ok with it. That big "M" in the upper left corner of every Spidey comic should give it away.

Or the page flipping Marvel films logo at the beginning of every Spider-Man movie for those who don't read the comics.

alycakes3486d ago

You're right....I was thinking of something else and then I remembered that Stan Lee created him.....I was having a senile moment. Thanks

Soldierone3486d ago

I don't see how this could fail at all. It's a win for everybody. Sony has no idea how to build a universe around Spider-Man. I'm a huge fan of Spider-Man and love the Amazing movies, but I can see it too.... Sony really has no clue.

Let Marvel step in and organize it a little bit, let them use Spider-Man in Avengers as payment, and then profit off his appearance. What would Sony lose? Honestly? They either let Marvel use him and don't exactly profit off Avengers, or they keep running in circles trying to figure out where to go.

Porcelain_Chicken3486d ago

In the simplest of thoughts, yes. Seeing Spider-man walking and talking with his fellow heroes is a gigantic win. No one is arguing that.

But is THIS CURRENT Spider-man good to go in The Avengers? How exactly do you squeeze Andrew Garfield's loved by the city web-head, into the MCU who has seemingly no trace of him anywhere! Where was he during the New York incident and where will he be during the Ultron kerfuffle?! As we've seen already everything resonates within the MCU. The aftermaths of a Cap, IM, or a Thor movie can be felt by the others. Shield or Stark would have heard by now about Oscorp who's practically run by Satan in the Spider-man cinematic universe.

Soldierone3486d ago

Norman hasn't done anything wrong yet and Oscorp is still flying at a low threat level. Captain A also just destroyed a whole city chasing down a corrupt Shield without the Avengers stepping in.

It's comics, there are plenty of excuses you could play. Timeline wise, alternate universe, etc... Remember Gwen just died? Perhaps that happened before Avengers, thus Spidey wanted nothing to do with it at the time. Then in the second Avengers it starts happening again, but he decides enough is enough and joins in to help.

According to the films the whole Sinister Six idea is a secret, the guy is approaching them in jail and Peter has not come across the plans yet. Peter put all the villains he faced in jail so far except Rhino and he wasn't a big enough threat to warrant the Avengers. Normally that doesn't happen until widespread chaos, like when Norman created a Goblin army.

It's not too late to figure out a gameplan and make up reasonable excuses. After Sinister Six it may be too late, but not yet.

There were no Avengers in Iron Man 3, no Avengers coming to say hello to Thor when he came back in Thor 2. No avengers in Cap 2 (aside from Black Widow) when their own boss had just gotten killed.

The argument is silly.

Just as long as you drop everything connected with these awful Amazing Spider-Man movies. The casting is just horrid, unlike Marvel who is casting brilliantly.

NCAzrael3486d ago

Meh, aside from Harry Osborne, I don't have much to gripe about for the casting. Granted, I'd have been much happier with Emma Stone if they would have had her play MJ because Emma is completely gorgeous as a red head, and we all knew Gwen would have to die at some point, but she still rocked in the role, so not much to complain about.

I like Andrew Garfield as Spidey. I think he is a lot more jovial, and he pulls of brooding just as well.

Will be awesome if it happens
