Following the successful box office opening of YA film adaptation The Maze Runner, 20th Century Fox has quickly set a date for the sequel.
Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, based on the second entry in James Dashner's book series, will hit theaters Sept. 18, 2015.
Over the weekend, The Maze Runner opened to a pleasing $32.5 million at the North American box office.
Overseas, Maze Runner also impressed, taking in another $37.6 million for an early worldwide total of $81.5 million (the film began rolling out in several territories last weekend).
