Affleck On Batfleck: 'I Wouldn't Have Done It If I Didn't Think I Could'

EW

Say the word “Batfleck” to Ben Affleck and it turns out he’ll laugh.

Toward the end of a wide-ranging conversation with EW about his starring role in Gone Girl—director David Fincher’s adaptation of the bestselling 2012 crime thriller that’s spotlighted in an exclusive cover story in this week’s issue—Affleck opened up about another project that Twitter has been chattering about ever since his involvement with it was announced last August: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Or you did it for the truck load of money Warner Brothers threw your way.

Even if an actor didn't think they could do a role they would still take it if the studio is offering them a load of money. Who wouldn't

i can name one actor who wouldnt....

Will smith turning down the part of Neo in the matrix.
he was approached by the studio and everything, even had a copy of the script but he just couldn't see himself in that role and passed it up. went to Keanu who nailed it. smith watched it and confessed if he played neo he wouldve messed it up. he would have messed up "the matrix".

not everyone is only about the money, in the beginning maybe but eventually they start choosing their projects wisely. besides, it not like Ben needs the cash here, he could skip this and keep his oscar winning reputation intact. he's doing it coz he thinks he can pull it off. the fact that he isnt the only one who thinks he can pull it off gives us a glimmer of hope.

EDIT: just thought of another one...Mel Gibson who passed on the chance to play Maximus in Gladiator because he thought he was too old to play action roles. again..didnt think he was a good fit, dropped out.

Will Smith also turned down the role of Dr. King Shultz in Django Unchained. A role the landed actor Christoph Waltz an Oscar. "The script was brilliant" "but it just wasn't for me". He also turned down the role of Superman twice. Once from producer Jon Peters and once from director Bryan Singer.

Josh Brolin passed on Batman before they got Affleck. Tom Cruise ultimately dropped out of Iron man. Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel turned down the role of Wonder Woman in 2007's Justice League. Josh Hartnett was allegedly offered $100 million to appear in a planned Superman trilogy directed by Brett Ratner but passed on the role, while Ashton Kutcher dropped out of Superman after being spooked by the fabled "Superman curse". Dougray Scott dropped out of the Wolverine role in the first X-men to be in Mission Impossible 3. Warren Beatty, Robert Redford and Burt Reynolds passed on the legendary Superman tights that Christopher Reeve would later don.

But -Fox won't care. He just really loves to give this movie cr@p.

To be entirely honest, I hope he does prove people wrong and brings it to life very well. It will be awesome to see another fanbase flip.
