Getting real tired of these articles. They come out every other week it seems, and offers up generally the same tired arguments. The truth is, many films have handled multiple big characters with great success time and time again. It all comes down to the story and how the director handles it.

So we can't really know until we see it. All 3 of Nolan's Batman films had multiple villains/main characters and they did just fine. Avengers did fine, Guardians of the Galaxy did it wonderfully...Serenity, Expendables, X-Men: Days of Future Past, all the Star Wars flicks. Do I need to go on?

Apparentley, because the articles are still flowing. :l

It's like this is the first movie in ages that featured an abundance of characters in both major and minor roles. Kinda sad to say but Marvel really dumbed down alot of our audience members to the point where 5 prequel introductions, nods and easter eggs a plenty, and one-liners are needed every step of the way to form a successful franchise. It's like the X-men's and The Godfather's of the world have suddenly seized to exist.

Like you said, Batman Begins had so many villains. Ras' Al Ghul, Scarecrow, Carmine Falcone, Victor Zsasz, and Flass. All major & minor villains in the comics translated well onto film. But everyone points to Spider-man 3 as the ender of all discussions.

If two superheroes and cameos from Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg are too much, imagine how the writer would feel towards Justice League lol.

DC has announced a whole bunch of untitled films, which show theyre going to develop alot of characters for years to come.
