Dark Horse will release a limited edition action figure of Sin City Marv — designed by Eric So with help from Sin City author Frank Miller — on September 10th.
Sin City tried to teach the industry an important lesson then, but it no one heeded the warning.
Denis Murphy writes- Before watching the original Sin City film back in 2005, I was completely unaware what Sin City was and who all the characters were. I went into it cold and loved it. Backed up by a pretty strong cast, I loved the idea of various slightly interconnected tales that were happening across a city. I also loved the harsh black and white look of the film, how certain colours stood out and the fact that it was a comic book adaptation that didn't include superheroes.
Flickering Myth:
I liked the second Sin City more than the first, but the whole enterprise still seems to be built on a faulty, cliche ridden foundation which works far better as a comic book homage to pulp. The Sin City films are kind of strange experiences since the source material is so inspired by the noir genre. Frank Miller did such a great job translating his love of these crime stories into the printed page. I realize the goal here is to make the panels come to life on screen, but it feels like a photocopy of those old great black and white noir films from the golden age of cinema. He’s so invested in the homage that the style seems infinitely more interesting than the characters or the world they inhabit.
This looks like a film review more than a DVD review.
And way to ruin all of The Sixth Sense for those who might not have seen it yet...
