CB: While this weekend’s feature film adaptation of Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s X-Men: Days of Future Past is expected to gross more than $100 million domestically and be one of (if not the) biggest opening in the history of the X-Men film franchise, it isn’t the first time the classic ’80s story has been adapted.
No, a version of “Days of Future Past” appeared on the fan-favorite ’90s X-Men animated series, which aired on Fox Kids’ Saturday morning lineup from 1992-1997, and was released on VHS as a double feature with ”The Night of the Sentinels.”
X-Men ’97 landed the comeback. Despite the fears it wouldn’t do justice to the original animated series, the revival captures the magic of what’s become the quintessential version of Marvel's mutants.
This review is based on the first three episodes of X-Men '97.
Norm Spencer, the Canadian actor best known for his voice work as Cyclops in X-Men: The Animated Series, has died.
Anyone else miss Wolverines costume?
"Wolverine and the X-men" had a similar story, too. Great show; almost had an "Age of Apocalypse" story, but it got canned. Truly great superhero cartoons never last anymore.
Can't beat the 90s when it comes to superhero cartoons that actually lasted.
X-Men animated series, Superman:tas, Batman:tas, etc.
Compare it to the source material instead. I like the X Men movies as movies. Just they are sometimes too removed from the material they are basing their stories on so I don't think of them as X Men movies. Just movies. Great superhero movies.
Bishop, what's that time jockey doing back?
Dang! I miss that show, I should've watch that first before I jumped on Evolution. ):
