Just one day shy of the twelfth anniversary of the release of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire the first sequel in another Spider-Man franchise is being released. In 2012, The Amazing Spider-Man was released; a new cast and crew re-imagined the web slinging hero but critics and audiences were divided over the film’s success thanks in large part to the endless comparisons to Raimi’s recently completed series. Despite its rather tepid response The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was fast tracked and less than two years later the crime fighting web crawler is again back in action.
