Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has revealed today that all upcoming Star Wars content will be connected.
This includes the upcoming Star Wars Rebels, books and the upcoming movie.
That's gotta be one of the most ambitious undertakings in a series that I've ever seen. I'm a bit worried to see what gets axed, though. EDIT: Oh man...looks like most/all post-Return of the Jedi stuff is getting the non-canon stamp and being termed as "Star Wars: Legends."
So only the movies count for the moment is that what you mean?
It's a bit hazy right now. Episodes 1-6 and The Clone Wars TV series are considered absolute canon--they're the foundation, but if you'd seen The Lost Missions episodes you'd noticed Darth Bane is directly credited there. It'd seem like a huge oversight if that didn't stay. Since Episode VII-IX are Post-Return of the Jedi, all that old stuff (Kyle Katarn, Thrawn Trilogy, etc.) are getting the axe. I don't think stuff chronologically before that (Darth Bane, KOTOR, etc.) will meet the same fate.
