Mike Lee writes- Shot with the same cast over 12 years, from 2002 to 2013, Richard Linklater’s Boyhood is undoubtedly one of the most ambitious and riskiest movie projects ever attempted. And the risks seem to have paid off – the film’s picked up three Golden Globes including Best Motion Picture (Drama) and Best Director, and it now has a whopping six pending Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.
Entertainment Buddha guest author Ben Sarro writes: "Boyhood has gone above and beyond any type of film trickery to show the twelve year span of Mason (Ellar Coltrane). Director Richard Linklater has literally filmed different parts of the movie over those twelve years to show not only the characters growing up, but the actors themselves. The nearly 3 hour long saga is quite a trip through memory lane, as Linklater emphasizes different songs, technologies, and current events to show the authenticity of the time periods."

While ambitious and worth watching to see what the hype is about, Boyhood offers little more than its fascinating production schedule; the story of how it was made rather as opposed to the story it tells.
That's some seriously dedicated film making there. I will for sure watch this movie when I get the chance.
