Batman Vs. Superman: Seth Green Speaks Out Against Ben Affleck As Batman

When Warner Bros. announced Ben Affleck had been cast as Batman in Batman Vs. Superman, the Internet went crazy and many fans expressed their outrage. However, most celebrities rallied around Affleck and voiced their support of his casting. In fact, I can’t recall a single celebrity that spoke out against Affleck playing Batman.

Times have changed. Never thought I would see the day where we debate the merits of Ben Affleck's Batman on...Larry King? FWIW, I do understand where Green is coming from, but I still think he should give Affleck a chance. He did a good job of playing George Reeves in the Superman biopic, it was a subtle performance but I don't hear a lot of people referencing it in regards to this film. They should because it's probably his most relevant role as far as Bruce Wayne is concerned.

It sure will be tough for that traditionally rich white male to play that traditionally rich white male from the comic books. Let me prejudge his looks based upon the 50 year old comics and not allow him to act him way out of that box. Even though in reality a movie super hero should be a reinterpretation, but the fanboys are so obsessed with the comics

One could argue that comics fanboys never got a chance to see their favorite comics just being adapted . None did .

So it's hardly a case of hollywood , having tried a way and noticing it just doesnt work with a massive audience .

From the get go they decided on what's possible or acceptable to take from the comics books world , and for a long time , they bombed and/or were horrible .

So yeah while some "fanboys" are way too rabbid in expressing their views , it's not all black and white and irrelevant .

I dont see why every book , cartoon , games , manga fan have a right to complain about the way their beloved stuff is adapted on screens ... and most people actually ok with that ... and then suddenly comics book fans should shut up .

That's like criticizing people for being mad if they remade Citizen Kane (Not comparing Batman comics to CK, just grabbing the first famous classic movie off top of head) and the main actor acted like someone completely different.

People expect to see the character that the actor is playing, not their "reinterpretation" of a highly solidified character.

It's good to see a celeb challenge the laughable casting of Ben Affleck as Batman. The Eisenstein thing is a lot worse, though.

As to why many other celebs haven't spoken out against Batfleck, i can only guess that making enemies of influential people like Affleck and/or Warner Bros can have a negative effect on your acting career.

Well Seth hasn't got anything to loose really, he probably knows that unlike high profile actors sticking up for Affleck that he won't be working with him in the future...plus he's the type of guy who seems more interest in the comic books related things.

I really feel like the majority of actors sticking up for Affleck don't want to say anything bad incase they are his friend or if they end up working with him in the future.

Yeah no one actively seeking oscar worthy movies and a careful of his career is going to lash out at such a now known director and actor . And let alone the behemot studio behind the project

“If this movie is meant to be the idealistic alien, humans before all else Superman, and this is supposed to be the grizzled weathered Batman who’s been living in Gotham, fighting crime himself for 10 years, you need a guy who’s older, you need a guy who’s got more weight, you need a guy that a Henry Cavill Superman is gonna be actually scared of,” Green said.

Totally Agree Seth...well done :)
