So many movies are "similar" to script already made. This is why studios don't take unsolicited ones. Imagine if they actually read all the thousands of scripts registered with the guild? They'd have lawsuits with every movie....
Thats not to say they don't rip off movies, but its just the way it is. There really is nothing he can do, and I say that as a screenwriter.
