New “Beware The Batman” Not On Cartoon Network January 2014 Schedule

World's Finest: Cartoon Network has provided The World’s Finest with programming details for the month of January 2014, and new episodes of Beware The Batman are absent from the schedule. The CG-animated series was removed from the Cartoon Network schedule back in October 2013, with reports claiming a January 2014 return for the Batman cartoon. The series originally aired Saturday and Sunday mornings at 10:00am (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network as part of the hour-long DC Nation programming block, but has since been replaced with back-to-back Teen Titans Go! repeats. No reasons for Beware The Batman‘s removal from the schedule were provided.

I don't get Cartoon Network. They get some great shows and then bury them amongst a lot of crap. I wasn't all that woohoo about this show, but Green Lantern and Young Justice before it were amazing and deserved a way better fate.

"They USED to get some great shows"

Fixed that for you

Fact is CN and other kids channels like Disney and Nickoldeon have all turned to crap

All their Cartoons now either rely on random crap in the show to be funny or the horrible CGI shows which all look the same. Then you have political correctness and all that crap which means shows can't get away with stuff they used to.

I think Ed, Edd and Eddy was the last great show which lasted the longest.

I mean even old shows they've ruined like Scooby Doo where they solve mystery in their home town and they know everyone, Tom and Jerry Tales which isn't as violent as the old ones and then the Looney Tunes show which has turned into a sitcom, Bugs and Daffy LIVING TOGETHER....come on.

It's sad when you used to have shows like...

Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Flintstones, 2 Stupid Dogs, Freakazoid, Johnny Quest, Johnny Bravo, I AM Weasel, Cow and Chicken, Grim and Evil, Power Puff Girls, Ed, Edd and Eddy, Courage the Cowedly Dog (that was messed up and amazing), Samurai Jack, Dexters Lab, Time Team, The Jetsons....and people seem happy with something like Adventure Time which only relies on random crap to be funny.

I thought I was just getting older but no...something seriously wrong has happened to Cartoon Network. I mean don't get me started on Nickelodeon and Disney for the cheesy live action stuff they are doing now,

Lol, yep, you did fix that for me. On the whole, yes I agree that most of the shows on those various networks have turned to crap. Every now and then we get something awesome, but on the whole, it's not like the days of yore.

Cartoons these days have definitely changed and rather than providing a story of any kind, they think that slapping together a bunch of stupid people is comedic.

Oh and I actually like the new Looney Tunes. Not as great as the originals, but far better than I expected.

-Foxtrot3764d ago

Really...how can you like the new Looney Tunes...it's a bloody joke.

It's appalling how it's even related to Looney Tunes. It's not as violent, they've dumbed it down, turned it into a sitcom and it's not what Looney Tunes is about. Hell they even turned Lola into a blonde bimbo

"They STILL have some get some great shows"

Fixed that for you.

Don't know why you have so much hate against cartoons of today, especially Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network still has some shows like Adventure Time or Regular Show. Also, ALL of DC Nation has been great. CN may not handle those shows very well, but they are great shows.

Shadonic3764d ago

what !!! you didnt like young justice? or billy and mandy or get into Adventure time at lease a little? I would say that they get SOME!!! great shows and cool ideas and they either scrap them once they become popular to put some crap in or dont even fund them compared to stupid junk like uncle grandpa.

-Foxtrot3764d ago (Edited 3764d ago )

@RetrospectRealm

You go to defend Cartoon Network and the best examples you come up with are Adventure Time or Regular Show...too shows which are ridiculously over hyped and are really average at best

They rely on being random to be funny instead of having an actual story of any kind and it comes off as stupid. My hate against CN is totally justified, they have turned to crap over the years, any other person can see that.

"They REALLY DON'T have some great shows"

Fixed your fix.

@Shadonic

"what !!! you didnt like young justice? or billy and mandy or get into Adventure time at lease a little?"

What are you talking about I mentioned Billy and Mandy as Grim and Evil (same thing)

admiralvic3764d ago

You keep saying "They rely on being random to be funny instead of having an actual story of any kind and it comes off as stupid" and yet you still praise Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, Courage and a number of other shows that did the exact same thing to be funny.

Like Regular Show and Adventure Time both have underline stories and plots that get expanded upon in various episodes. There is definately no linear structure, but there is enough to rival (arguably beat) Dexter's Lab or Powerpuff Girls. The same can be said for humor, as a lot of shows from the 90's relied on randomness to be funny or interesting.

Powerpuff girls had Fuzzy's meat gun. Dexter had episodes like the decoder ring (to join action hanks gang), the one with the beard (so he was man enough to take out the gang), the one with super powers and many more. Ed, Edd and Eddy achieved a lot of its humor in how they ultimately failed, which was typically random and silly. A lot of Courage in general was weird, like the chicken from outer space, anything with Katz and a number of other villains.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of these series, much like Regular Show, gets a lot of humor through satire / references / parody. Like Dexter had the never remove from box episode (also one of the best examples of being random for humor too), Johnny Bravo had a lot of references to Elvis, Megas XLR was almost completely dominated by this concept and many other series to a lesser degree (I don't have a photographic memory of every cartoon from the 90's, sorry).

I would say CN is going down hill, but I've also read studies that people generally prefer the cartoons they grew up with, opposed to the ones they did not grow up with. I've watched series like Steven Universe and wondered how that got green lit, but it will probably last longer than it should. Likewise, I've rewatched things like Rocko and am amazed this made it on the air as a kids show (though it's still awesome). In the end, I still prefer the series that are closer to what I had, than the new wave stuff.

maniacmayhem3763d ago

You had some good points Foxtrot but then you went downhill towards the end.

Have you even watched Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball or the new one Steven Universe? Those are hilariously funny and way ahead of anything you listed.

2 Stupid Dogs!? Ed, Edd and Eddy? FLINTSTONES!? Those shows were horrible!

"Then you have political correctness and all that crap which means shows can't get away with stuff they used to."

So you want cartoons to be racist or prejudice like the old Loony Tunes and Tom and Jerry's? And by the way I thought they were hilarious but they have no place for todays viewing for kids or young adults.

Also you need to actually watch Regular Show, they are consistent with being funny and out the box. One of the best episodes was a whole spoof of the King of Kong documentary movie. You tell me if Ed, Edd and Eddy ever had comedy like that?

My problem with CN is them taking away awesome shows like Young Justice, Green Lantern:TAS, Thundercats and other shows that have a more mature theme and more story driven than other cartoon shows.

If anything CN should make another channel like Boomerang. Make it an independent Toonami channel where they can show the more mature shows like Young Justice, Green Lantern and Thundercats. Because all those shows were cut down way in their infancy and it wasn't fair to the fans who loved that show.

By the way part of the reason why YJ was cut was because CN executives thought the show was appealing to much to the whole family and especially to GIRLS! Can you believe that?

admiralvic is exactly right. I think you're just saying you like the old shows and they are better cause you might've grew up with them and you feel a sense of nostalgia. These new shows are practically the same, but you're not a kid anymore, so you don't feel the same way. Shame...
