The 10 Worst Horror Movie Endings

Best Horror Movies says "There’s nothing quite as disheartening as a botched finale. Viewing and thoroughly enjoying a quality genre piece, only to be utterly insulted by the big climax is akin to eating a nice meal at a nice restaurant, the glorious dessert on your mind all night, only to receive a burnt pastry as the final course. It sucks, and it – to an extent – spoils the whole damn experience, to be blunt. We’ve seen an awful lot of loathe worthy finales over the years, but these 10 flicks, well, they’re damn near guaranteed to royally piss you off as a result of the waning moments!"

How did High Tension not make this list?

Because high tensions ending was good perhaps?

I actually like Huate Tension's ending. At least they didn't pull a 'Descent' and totally change it for a more audience friendly ending for American audiences.

I'm still trying to decide if the ending to The Mist was either pure genius or absolute lunacy. Were they trying show that Thomas Jane was so poisoned by the religious hysteria that he could justify doing such a heinous act?

I have friends who totally discredit Haute Tension just because of the ending. It didn't make any sense at all. Yeah, I agree Descent's US ending was pure bullshit and after I saw it in the theaters I immediately watched the original ending on youtube.

As for The Mist, the ending was really what made the film memorable for me as I wasn't a huge fan of slow burners back when I first saw it. I think I remember reading that King even prefers the film's ending to his own. I thought they the group had just figured that all was lost so they went quick and painless but I haven't had a chance to revisit the film and look into it from that angle so you may be onto something.
