Set roughly a year or so after the events of the Avengers movie and the second movie in Marvel studio’s phase 2 roll out (Iron man 3 being the first).
It sees an ancient enemy of Asgard, the Dark elves lead by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) has been awoken from an extended slumber when Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) squeeze from the last movie, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) happening across an ancient power source that could plunge all nine realms into darkness if Malekith has anything to do with it. So once again it’s up to Thor to protect the universe by defending Jane against the Dark elf assault and teaming up with an unlikely ally.
