Two years ago, the teaser trailer for Techland's video game Dead Island came online and took the internet by storm, and now it's back... with real people! Machinima has created a live action shot-for-shot remake of the popular trailer which you can find in the player below. We've also included the original teaser for comparison.
From Deadline:
Zombie video game Dead Island is getting reanimated for the screen by Occupant Entertainment and publisher Deep Silver. The companies have pacted to package, produce, and finance a new film based on the bestselling videogame played from the perspective of survivors fending off the undead on an island paradise.
Really though. Of all the games in the world, let's go with this? I mean Hollywood itself won't even talk zombies, how the heck will a movie be any good in that environment? (They blamed World War Z failures on the fact zombies were in it.....)
Gareth at Skewed and Reviewed talks about Real Steel, The Thing, Red State by Kevin Smith, the video games into movies issue as well as the latest on Dead Island. He also goes over the Star Wars and Star Trek TNG Blu Rays and give a fresh take on the controversial additions and Vader’s ...Nooo
What do you guys think about adding more DVD and Blu-ray to the show? I suggested it for weeks when there are not alot of big films or games coming out.
Coming Soon says:
Lionsgate announced today that the studio has acquired the film rights to Deep Silver's Dead Island game:
LIONSGATE, a leading global entertainment company, today announced that it has optioned film rights from Deep Silver to develop a feature inspired by Dead Island, which became a viral media sensation when its haunting, artful trailer launched in February 2011 (view below). The announcement was made by Lionsgate's co-COO and Motion Picture Group President Joe Drake.
I'm amazed at how fast this release came out. I'm still waiting for a Left 4 Dead movie series to come out.
I honestly don't know how I feel about it. Like the gaming industry, movies are starting to be flooded with the zombie genre. Don't get me wrong I love all things zombie, but I worry we'll reach an over-saturation point. I mean, all of them are starting to look the same, and need to do something different to really stand out. Let's just hope they can do that with this movie.
That was extremely well done by these guys. Hats off to them
Wow, fantastic job!!
