At this point in his career, Tom Hanks pretty much comes as a seal of quality, a stamp of approval. Even when his films aren’t that great, they’re still OK because, hey, it’s Tom Hanks. Fortunately, though, this second part of the theory does not apply to his latest feature film – Captain Phillips – which is a wonderfully tense and emotionally exhausting piece of action-drama.
