Saoirse Ronan has confirmed to Sky News she has read for a part in the new Star Wars film.

The 19-year-old Irish actress, whose new film How I Live Now opens this week, has confirmed rumours that she’s auditioned for a role - before modestly adding "so has everyone".

That's very true. I'm sure a ton of people have read for roles in the film, but that doesn't mean anything. I mean, it's an actor's job to go out and read for roles. That's not saying they'll get the part or anything.

For me she actually looks like she might fit the role pretty well. Also, the kid can act which leads me to think that they might actually be looking to get quality acting in this next series.

Which is totally key. Say what you will about Abrams, but he gets good performances out of his cast, and he does a good job with casting in general.

Never once have I said anything negative about JJ. I think the man is an incredibly talented story teller. I'll watch anything he touches.
