Batman/Superman to Feature Mercy Graves: Lex Luthor's Amazonian Bodyguard

CosmicBook news

Cosmic Book News has been tipped off from the same source that gave us the Bryan Cranson cast as Lex Luthor news that the new Batman/Superman movie set to star Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will feature the DC Comics character Mercy Graves.

We have no other information in regards to how the character will be used in the movie, but Mercy Graves first appeared in Superman: The Animated Series back in 1996, created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, as the bodyguard and chauffeur of Lex Luthor.

Make her classic Mercy. Not Amazonian. She was only Amazonian after her transfer from the DCAU to the comics. Never liked that.

SilentNegotiator3890d ago

Oh DCAU, you've created so many great characters.

ironfist923890d ago

Wasnt she a Cyborg? At least from what I saw of Young Justice...

Snakefist303890d ago

She never was a Cyborg in the Comic!

maniacmayhem3890d ago

Yea, I liked the Young Justice Mercy much, much better.

SilentNegotiator3890d ago (Edited 3890d ago )

Well, Young Justice takes place on Earth number herp-de-derp, instead of Earth number confusing-multiverse-BS.

@maniac
I certainly like the idea of her being a cyborg. She was a solid character in the DCAU, but just being a regular person makes no sense; why would lex have a completely regular human bodyguard with no armor or anything?

Being Amazonian kinda fixes that problem, but I don't care for the idea that Lex would surround himself with superpowered people either.

Mercy being a cyborg seems like a happy medium; human but super-strong, too.

ironfist923890d ago

And wouldnt that go against the whole Lex Luthor hates Superhumans thing also?

Lord_Sloth3890d ago

In some of the comics around the death of Supes he had a Supergirl with him but I liked Mercy more.

SilentNegotiator3890d ago (Edited 3890d ago )

I like to pretend like the Death of Superman never happened. lol

Yeah, there's precedent to Lex having superhumans protect him, but I still feel like that doesn't gel right.

@ironfist

I guess technically. But I think that would be where Lex would go to find a happy medium. Plus, he could shut her down if he ever needed to.
